Preserving duration, reinterpreting footage and creating or dropping frames are different operations. This arithmetic does not select cadence, interpolation, shutter treatment, audio resampling or timecode labels. Use the exact rational rate required by the delivery specification when 23.976, 29.97 or another fractional rate matters.
