Find the most-used words in any text
Paste a passage and this counter tallies how many times each word appears, then ranks them from most to least frequent with a bar and a percentage beside each. It is a quick way to check whether a piece leans too hard on a particular word, to pull out the likely keywords of an article, or to study the vocabulary of a speech or a book chapter. Case folding is on by default so the and The count together, and a single switch hides the common filler words — the, and, of and their kin — so the meaningful terms rise to the top. It also reports the total and unique word counts. Everything is analysed in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Why frequency matters
The words you repeat shape how writing reads. Seeing them ranked exposes overused terms to vary and surfaces the keywords a reader, or a search engine, will take away.

Does it count different cases as the same word?
By default yes, so The and the are combined. Turn off ignore case to count each capitalisation separately.
Can I hide common words?
Yes. The skip-common-words option removes frequent filler words like the, and and of, leaving the meaningful terms at the top of the list.
How are words defined?
A word is a run of letters, digits and apostrophes, so punctuation is stripped and contractions stay intact. The top forty unique words are shown with their counts.
