Frequently asked questions

What is the largest Roman numeral here?

Standard Roman numerals reach 3999, written MMMCMXCIX. Larger values historically used bars over letters, which this tool does not use.

How does subtraction work?

A smaller symbol before a larger one is subtracted, so IV is 4 and IX is 9, while VI is 6.
