Divide a total fence length into equal sections

Enter total fence length, number of independent straight runs, maximum allowed spacing and an optional cost per post. The calculator divides length equally among the runs, rounds sections up so calculated spacing stays at or below the entered maximum and adds a start and end post to every run. It also reports total sections and a simple post-only cost.

Mark corners, gates and conditions on a site plan

Independent runs are a simplified model. Corners, gates, terminals, braces, grade changes, panel sizes and shared corner posts can alter the count. Confirm property boundaries, easements, underground utilities, wind and soil conditions, required depth, material specifications, permits and local rules before digging.

Frequently asked questions

Why does each run add two end posts?

Every independent straight run is modeled with its own start and end.

Will spacing exceed the maximum?

No. Section count rounds up and equal spacing is recalculated.

Are gate posts included?

No. Add gates and special terminal or bracing posts separately.
