What would you like to do next?
Check color contrast
Pick a text color and a background color above to see the contrast ratio between them and whether it meets the WCAG accessibility levels. A live sample shows how the pair looks, so you can make text readable for everyone, including people with low vision. The check runs entirely in your browser.
What the levels mean
AA requires a ratio of at least 4.5 to 1 for normal text and 3 to 1 for large text, while AAA requires 7 to 1 for normal text.
Frequently asked questions
What contrast ratio do I need?
For normal text, aim for at least 4.5 to 1 to meet WCAG AA, or 7 to 1 for the stricter AAA level.
What counts as large text?
Large text is roughly 18 point or 14 point bold and upward, and it only needs a 3 to 1 ratio for AA.
