Calculate the main properties of a right circular cone

Enter base radius and perpendicular height to calculate volume, slant height and total surface area including the circular base. The calculator first uses a right triangle to find slant height, then applies it to the lateral area. Keeping those steps connected makes the result useful for geometry study and for preliminary conical layout estimates.

Confirm the cone type and included surfaces

The apex is assumed to sit directly over the center of a circular base. Oblique cones and irregular fabricated shapes need different treatment. Total surface area includes the base, so remove that part when the real object is open. Use one unit for both inputs and apply seams, overlap, thickness or trimming only after the ideal dimensions are confirmed.

Frequently asked questions

How is slant height calculated?

It is the hypotenuse formed by the radius and perpendicular height.

Does surface area include the base?

Yes. The displayed total includes lateral area and one circular base.

Can this model an oblique cone?

No. It assumes a right circular cone.
